How do I send SafeCheck Messages?

SafeCheck is Via Travel’s SMS check-in service that allows admins and group leaders to send SMS text messages to travelers at any time. In order for a SafeCheck message to be sent to a traveler, the traveler must first enroll in SafeCheck; if a traveler does not enroll in SafeCheck, they cannot be sent a SafeCheck message. When enrolling in SafeCheck, Via verifies that the phone number is a valid mobile phone number. 

Admins can send SafeCheck messages from either the Via Travel Travelers view or the Who's Going table view.

To send a message from the Via Travel Travelers view…

  1. Click Via Travel in the main navigation menu
  2. Click Travelers view
  3. Select the desired Traveler(s) by checking the box next to their name(s)
  4. Click Actions
  5. Click SafeCheck from the dropdown
  6. Select the desired SafeCheck message
  7. If desired, Add a LocationCheck
  8. If desired, send SafeCheck content as an email
  9. Click Send SafeCheck Message
  10. Click View SafeCheck Responses to view the specific SafeCheck message and responses

To send a message from the Via Travel Who's Going table…

  1. Click Via Travel in the main navigation menu
  2. You will land on the Plan view
  3. Click the name of any Plan to navigate to that specific plan
  4. Toggle to the table view
  5. Select the desired Traveler(s) by checking the box next to their name(s)
  6. Click Actions
  7. Click SafeCheck from the dropdown
  8. Select the desired SafeCheck message
  9. If desired, Add a LocationCheck
  10. If desired, send SafeCheck content as an email
  11. Click Send SafeCheck Message
  12. Click View SafeCheck Responses to view the specific SafeCheck message and responses

SafeCheck messages will only be sent to Travelers with an enrolled and verified mobile phone number.
