What is the difference between a default message recipient and a message recipient?

A message recipient is a conversation participant for a Traveler. Think of a message recipient as being a participant on a group chat with the Traveler.  The message recipient will receive any message the Traveler sends as well as any individual or batch message sent by another Admin to that Traveler.

A default message recipient is a safety net for your account. Default message recipients receive messages from Travelers that do not yet have any message recipients assigned to them. In addition, default message recipients are the home campus program contact/s for authorized programs.

Message recipients for Travelers do not automatically receive Have a Question or Learn More mailers from Travelers UNLESS they are also the Program Contact for that particular program. Nor do message recipients receive Have a Question or Learn More mailers from Travelers for authorized programs UNLESS they are also a Default Message Recipient on the account. In other words, message recipients receive messages to and from the message center - whether sent from the Traveler Profile message center OR in batch from one of the dashboards.
