As a Traveler, how do I respond to a Safety Check-in?

As part of your travel experience, you may receive alerts and safety check-ins from Administrators while you're away. These check-ins are meant to ensure your safety and security while you are participating in your experience. If you receive a safety check-in please respond as soon as possible. This will help your advisors back home determine whether you are safe or need assistance while traveling abroad. 

To mark yourself as Safe during a safety check-in...

  1. Go to your email inbox associated with your study abroad portal (the same email address associated with your program application)
  2. Find an email from messages@via-trm.com with the subject line: 🚨 ALERT
  3. Open the 🚨 ALERT email and click View Alert & Check in
  4. On the top right of your screen, you'll see the Check In with [Your Institution Name] section
  5. Select I'm Safe
  6. You've completed your safety check-in! 

 

To mark I Need Help during a safety check-in...

  1. Go to your email inbox associated with your study abroad portal (the same email address associated with your program application)
  2. Find an email from messages@via-trm.com with the subject line: 🚨 ALERT
  3. Open the 🚨 ALERT email and click View Alert & Check in
  4. On the top right of your screen, you'll see the Check In with [Your Institution Name] section
  5. Select I Need Help
  6. Make sure the check box to Share my current location with my Organization is selected
  7. Enter a custom message that includes any helpful information you would like to share with your administrators
  8. Click Send Message
  9. Your request for help has been sent to your administrators
